For exultation comes from neither the east
Nor the west nor from the south
But God is the judge
He puts down one
And exalts another
~~Psalm 75:6-7
How many times have you seen an article or blog on self-promotion? If you read a lot, you've seen that advice scores of times. "You can't afford to be modest." "Self-promotion the only way to grow your career."
And yet I cringe every time I read such content. And often that advice turns out to be false, especially this last year with changes to way search engines work.
Now, so they say, the best way to increase traffic to your blog or web site is through lots of other-oriented content. Too much self-promotion turns people off.
Well, the latest talk is late, especially in view of the above verse. Otherness has been around a while. The people who attract me most are the ones who want to put others before themselves. And, apparently, the Lord sees that as a good thing, too. He is the promoter and the advancer. The Great Builder of all, including our lives and businesses. He doesn't promote in our time -- only His.
