How long does it take to fully process a missions trip? A few weeks? Months? A lifetime? I'd say at least two years because I just now finished a four-minute video on part of the 2008 trip. I didn't get tons of footage, and here's the content I collected about Rainbows of Hope:
Many people groups all over the world called Spain the Nirvana of the Spanish-speaking universe. When I visited Ecuador in 2000, thousands of residents emmigrated illegally in the hopes of defeating poverty and finding a better life for their kids. Sadly, the opposite proved true. Most immigrants either found no work or low-paying positions. They moved into housing projects and worked two or three jobs to make ends meet in Spain's high-cost economy.
Today, the unemployment rate is much higher -- 25 percent -- and the competition for jobs has increased. I don't know the current state of affairs for immigrants, but I do know the issue is still volatile. The plight of immigrant children in Spain is one deserving the attention given by the adults featured in this video.
Since the taping of this footage, a number of teenagers have made important decisions for their lives. They have chosen salvation through Christ and are growing. They are finding support for their challenging lifestyles and spreading their new joy to their families and friends.
I haven't heard news about those two little boys who danced for me, but I hope they will be dancing for eternity if they haven't started already.
