This year is harder to recap because, well, it doesn't feel like I did much. No missions trips, no big changes in home, work, or church. But then again, there is much to be thankful for. The Lord has demonstrated faithfulness in every area.
Ministry: I've been on the Missions Committee for 16 months, and it has been fun. I don't feel burned out or discouraged even though there are constant areas that need attention. Because of work I'm not always as social with our missionaries as I would like, but relationships are in place and growing. I've learned to use Skype! Also, I am writing some of the text for Missions Emphasis publications again. This year's focus will be iMissions, a.k.a. furthering the news of Jesus through effective use of technology. Steve Saint, founder of i-tec will be our headline speaker, so the house should be packed.
Work: Still have a job! The company focused on executive layoffs and got the numbers, so the rest of us should be okay at least for a while. I don't have plans to leave at this time, but who knows what the Lord will do 2011. No way to predict what I'll be doing.
Creativity: This is probably the area that has changed the most. I started an online freelancing business in July. It was exciting at first, but, lately, the thrill wore off and I haven't posted a blog for at least two months. I've had trouble facing the truth – I have no passion for secular business. Ministry is still what drives me. Sooo, I'm in process of making decisions for 2011. Looks like I will continue investing in church ministry and delving deeper into the BILD series, which is a seminary-level leadership training program. These two commitments require plenty of creativity and energy, and they are activities I've been doing and love.
More creativity: I always get holiday pay between Christmas and New Year's Day, which gives me time to explore projects and hobbies. This year I dusted off a manuscript for a book that I started in Spain. It's a personal memoir and an attempt to look at God's intervention in my life circumstances. Frankly, this has not been easy to write, but the parts where God breaks through make this effort worth the energy. I have no idea what the final form will look like and can't go down that road yet. So far, I've written three chapters with seven more to go. Later, with help from others, we'll see what form the final package will take.
As for favorite books/movies, I don't have much to recommend. I finished Bram Stoker's Dracula on Tuesday and thought it was, well, poor taste (pun intended) and dull. Most of the movies were ho hum, except for the Babies documentary. For 2011, I started Don Quixote (Cervantes) and Kidnapped (Robert Louis Stevenson), but I will only be able to chip away a few pages at a time.
My biggest prayer is to re-start overseas travel in 2011. I had to stop completely since I returned from Spain, and it was the right decision. At the moment, I'm tentative for one summer trip and have a few more weeks before commitment time.
Have a spectacular New Year. Trust in His promises. Remember His goodness. Share His love!

I hope you get to take the trip! I would have to agree with you on the Babies doc...so adorable! We thought Jackson might watch it with us, but the trailer was the only thing he was really interested in. :)
